Like you I also joined the military (ARMY) after 9/11. I learned my leadership style from 2-3 great NCO’s I had the pleasure to serve with.
When in charge, take charge.
Don’t be upset with someone for more than 24 hours.
Be a professional at all times.
Manage your emotions, but at the same time don’t be afraid to get angry.
Confidence is quiet, insecurities are loud.
