What's your safety career trajectory?
I'd like to hear how you're planning your safety career. Are you looking to end up in middle management, corporate, start your own thing, or just stay put? What steps are you taking to make that happen?
I'm happiest working in the field (which I get a lot of in my current position) and running my side hustle in the evenings and weekends.

Honestly I am just trying to do my best to hopefully have a full time position here at the mill. My internship ends at the end of August so hopefully I can weasel my way in here by then. I do know that after three months here, which will be July 19th I should know more. Until then I will be finishing school and hoping for the best. I have some other classes I am taking to improve my knowledge. They are having a Lean Six Sigma green belt certification that I would like to join. I asked, but not sure if I am allowed to yet. I like the combination of in the field and in the office. I think it breaks up your day and it keeps my ADD at bay.

Working toward my CSP, possibly obtain an MS. Being affiliated with a large company with great benefits is the goal, but I want to have a good side hustle for supplemental income as well as more freedom to express myself in the safety world.

I'd agree with Morgan on the young professional statement. At this point I'm still gaining knowledge and hands on experiences, so probably not ready for the "management life".
I have had some former classmates that have contacted me to see if I had interest in working together as consultants or something to that nature. Definitely something to keep in mind as I continue to move forward with my career.

As a young professional I don't really see management in my future any time soon. Maybe later down the road. I think my short term goals are to achieve professional designations (CSP, CIH) and continue in the healthcare field focusing on IH. Eventually I would like to go back to school for a PhD and transition to the academia side as a full-time professor. I teach part time now and I really enjoy it.

My end goal changes daily. Some days I want to try climbing the technical ladder at my current employer. Some days I see myself going into management and climbing that side. And yet, other days I see myself jumping industries and going into consulting. The world is really your oyster so long as you focus on continually improving yourself, just as we aim to continually improve our health and safety programs.
