Near miss vs accident
Is a fall with no injury considered a near miss or accident? Currently debating with coworkers. I say an accident because the fall still occurred and that a near miss would have been if the employee was able to catch their balance/grab something and prevent that fall. Also just because the employee says they are not injured when it occurred does not mean they are not going to ask for medical attention later.

Its accident

Agh! I can’t change my accidental near miss vote... I vote accident because a fall is the unplanned event you want to prevent. It’s not a “no harm no foul” thing. Make sure to use this as a learning tool for employees to understand what a near miss (near hit, close call, good catch) really is, why they’re different and most importantly why the worker should care.

Assessing the event, I would near towards an accident. One would have to consider all associated factors. Side note: Am I the only one who despises the term "near-miss"? I think it is misleading in nature.

Definitely an accident. The severity of the incident is a different issue. Glad it wasn't worse.

Was any first-aid treatment given? Ice pack or anything?
Probably non-recordable accident in my books. That’s just how we do it, I feel like as long as you document and issue a corrective action you’re probably good
In my opinion, the result of a fall would push it out of near miss and into an incident.
