Safety consultant vs on-site safety manager
Looking for some advice. For people who have worked both as on-site safety managers and safety consultants which did you prefer more? What are some of the pros and cons of each you experienced?
Any feedback at all would be greatly appreciated

I made the jump to safety consultant at the beginning of this year. I tell everyone it’s like a took a huge weight off my shoulders and put it on my chest. 😂. That being said their is no way I will go back (maybe triple my quitting salary but not double).

I have experience with neither but I have heard from consultants that it can go either way depending on the client or project. Sometimes it can be nice to do what you’re good at, hand over the report, and leave. Sometimes it can be stressful because your client is tough or they employ unethical practices. Meanwhile, in-house could be easy or stressful depending on the resources, size, and culture. It may all come down to personal preference and case-by-case situational determinations.
Less stressful being the in-house expert than the outsourced one. It's a lot easier to fire a contractor than it is an employee
