Have you gotten more or less passionate about safety?
I’ve worked in the field for 10 years. When I first started out I found myself very passionate about the position, willing to stay late and happy to help out “off the clock”. About five years in my enthusiasm declined and so did my work performance. Lately it’s been picking back up, but I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this slump? Has anyone become MORE passionate about safety as the years have gone by?

I currently have about 2 years of experience plus a few internships and in the last year at my job the passion I had for EH&S has declined significantly. Fortunately I have taken a new job in hopes that the culture there will help me get back to the enthusiasm I once had for this field.
My enthusiasm for my job seems to hit a new low with each passing day - 10 years in the industry, but I realize it's the organizational culture which is really the depressing part. In the right environment anyone can thrive.

I am an early career professional (~3 years experience) so I have not yet hit that wall. Hopefully it does not happen but there is a lot of research on burnout so it would not be unrealistic. I have experienced some "COVID fatigue" from all of the extra work the last year. I am excited for the pandemic to eventually calm down enough so I can focus more on traditional safety/IH projects.
Same boat. Started off enthusiastic l, ready to take on the world, but lately my excitement has been on the decline. Been working for about 7 years
