Pallet Stacking
We have an abundance of steel pallets to store but do not have a surplus of space. This is how they are stored now. Anyone have a way of stacking these that will minimize space but keep them more secure so they don't fall?

Do you need all of them? My initial thought was just to get rid of some - you could probably scrap them for some "pizza money". If you do need them, maybe stack no higher than 6 feet, put some anchors in the walls, and use a strap to secure them.
I'm not the most mechanically inclined person so take my suggestion with a grain of salt! I'm sure someone else has a better idea

This is tricky because OSHA does not specify a height for empty pallets. They simply tell us "storage of material shall not create a hazard. Bags, containers, bundles, etc., stored in tiers shall be stacked, blocked, interlocked and limited in height so that they are stable and secure against sliding or collapse" (1910.176). The usual default rule is sprinkler coverage (not storing items within 18" of ceiling); however, your warehouse environment means those stacks are well below that height.
I am interested to see what others say. Hopefully somebody with some warehouse experience.
Google “pallet stacking frames” or just buy a tiered warehouse rack to fit the space
