What was your recent challenge/success?
I want to hear about a unique challenge/success you recently faced. What was it and how did you tackle it?
My recent challenge was helping the automation team implement an autonomous mobile robot to deliver items around the facility. Nobody in my company had dealt with this before so I had to do much of the legwork on my own. I leveraged existing robotic standards to identify appropriate engineering and administrative controls to minimize risk. It took many iterations, programming, and added controls but we made it work. The robot has been roaming the halls for two weeks now!
Side note: I always like working with engineers who have not implemented a "big" process in the past. They are always surprised by the questions we ask and controls we implement. Much to their surprise, you cannot just send out an email blast and let the robot loose (lol).

One of our processes was constantly overheating, so I worked with controls to upgrade the alarm system to email some of the supervisors when the unit overheats. The alarms exposed some pretty serious engineering flaws in the unit which caused a ruckus within our company. Some of my peers are probably upset that I gave them more headaches, but I don't feel bad about it

That's awesome! I'm gonna need to hear more about this robot. I assume you operate it with some sort of controller?
One challenge I've been facing lately is trying to coordinate meetings amidst the pandemic, and people working remotely. Obviously platforms like zoom and teams exist for this purpose, but it's still challenging to assemble everyone remotely. Still figuring that one out.
