Walking-Working Surfaces (Floor Markings)
Does anyone have any experience with specific color codes that would be required by any regulatory agency (OSHA, NFPA?)?
I'm looking into finding what colors are required for marking areas in a warehouse. When the task was assigned, it was worded like OSHA specifies colors for different types of floor markings. When looking into it, it doesn't seem OSHA tells what colors should be for specific areas like aisles, markings of fire extinguishers, other working areas, etc.. It only says that permanent aisles and passageways shall be appropriately marked.
Can anyone help with this?

Floors are yellow. Fire is red. Duh right? However there are specifications on distances and widths. Sorry but I would refer you to OSHA site on this one.
I recommend that you run a brief educational campaign about your new floor markings, and then post a few placards displaying the color codes and meanings. The codes can be very useful for areas with specific safety requirements. You can clearly define how close crates can be stored adjacent a fire exit, or the area around a piece of equipment that has specific PPE requirements such as a face shield.

OSHA offers no requirements for specific floor marking colors; however, a 1972 OSHA interpretation states that lines meant to define aisles may be any color, provided they clearly lay out the aisle. So it falls under best practices
