We always say that safety comes from the top down, but same as you mentioned. If the higher ups push the effort, it gets a ton more buy in and support as it trickles down!

So important! Empowerment and engagement makes a huge difference. You’ll find that employees really open up when engaged. I like to walk around and check in with my fellow coworkers to ensure their concerns and inquiries are not only heard, but acted upon ASAP. It’s amazing what mild to severe safety concerns and/or hazards an employee will bring up when you check in one on one. These issues may never have been brought up to mgt and EHS, so I’ve found it is highly beneficial to converse with your employees one on one and LISTEN to them.
