Parenting Skills and Safety
How many of you fellow EHS Professionals are also parents??
Has it influenced or changed your style of parenting?
Or wildly, do you think your parenting experience has made you a better EHS professional??
Would love to hear your thoughts

I am a parent to a 4 year old girl and 9 month old boy. I look back at before and after having kids and I would have to say that I'm a lot more patient in my job compared to my earlier years. As far as it influencing my style in parenting, I try to be as thorough as possible when explaining things to my 4 year old daughter. I taught her what sanding was this weekend. I was able to show her by touch what it did to wood and then also explain to her how the sand paper could do the same to her fingers if not properly holding the tool, ha.

Well I'm still a relatively new parent, but I think being a parent has actually made me a better EHS professional. Obviously looking out for your child's safety is the top priority, which is more or less an exercise in common sense. I think the same is pretty much true in the workplace - safety comes down to common sense. In that regard I do think there is a relationship between being a parent and being an EHS professional.
