Google/Apple contact tracing software in the workplace?
I wanted to talk about the new app being rolled out by Apple and Google to help with contact tracing:

There are some privacy concerns (to be expected), but otherwise I think this is a pretty neat tool. Is this something employers can mandate that employees use in your workforce? At this point nearly everyone has either an apple or android smartphone, but are employers allowed to tell employees what they should download on a personal phone - or would you have to provide employees with company phones in order to make that request? Just wanted to get thoughts from the group

What would it serve the companies that survive this reopening period? It's a tough question. You can't ask a company trying to recuperate loses to spend funds they may not have for testing equipment. What if it becomes part of the OSHA 300 reporting process? That will compound the issue.
Sorry, more questions than answers at the moment.

I'm not sure how they could legally require you to download an app on a personal device. At least not without them signing something prior to being hired.
