I completely understand where you are coming from, the source of this article is not one I would usually turn to. However, the goal of the Safety Knights Monday Newsletter is to bring entertaining, educational, and thought-provoking news to our readers from all perspectives. We want to challenge assumptions, spark conversations, and ultimately improve worker safety.
Before making the decision to add this article to the newsletter we made sure to verify that the info and sources mentioned were accurate to ensure that the article was more than a close minded ideological rant. We discovered the info to be accurate. It cites sources and mentions stories that have been covered in the past by reputable media companies and included in past newsletters. Ultimately, we view the article as another viewpoint of the industry back by facts.
We believe that looking at worker safety from different angles helps us grow, ask better questions, and, in the end, create safer workplaces. The purpose of the article was not to indoctrinate, but to spark conversation like this.
I respect the length and the purpose of the reply above, but imagine having 5 people in a room. 4 of them get Chipotle and the remaining guy gets a sandwich made of out something disgusting and the others try to convince him it's worth eating. Some perspectives are not worth hearing, some news sources aren't worth citing even if it is legit. Is the captain of my airplane at United going to review his trip route and precheck list with the guy in 33b? No. Truth is not relative, safety should be not be political in it's presentation or ideological in it's execution. Safety is a moral, legal responsibility and often it's worst enemy is liberal and conservative bias or anyone else. People are what matters, safety is about people, that's it. Overall, that's my opinion and I do really enjoy safety knights, so don't take this personal. As my father said to me in 1996 on compuserve, "No one cares what you say online." He was right.
