Dock Locking System
Hello all!
I'm searching for a dock locking system at my site. Unfortunately, we had a near miss a few weeks ago where a driver almost pulled off while associates were still unloading the trailer. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm not familiar with the different manufacturers, but I do know that some trailers will not fully engage with some systems due to the size of the trailer's rear impact guard/bar. I ran into this at a previous employer where it was not fully engaged because the rear impact guard/bar was too big for the hook. This, in turn, caused the system to not be fully engaged and, therefore, the driver to see a "green light", thinking it was safe to pull out of the loading dock.
We have had a lot of success with Power Chocks. These don't rely on using the ICC so it fits all trucks. The key is to make sure it is interlocked with the dock door and leveler. It alarms once the driver pulls up until they chock and will not allow the dock door to even open. https://www.aecmd.com/wheel-restraint-system

In the meantime, what if you implemented a policy of requiring the drivers to not be in their truck or to hang their key on a hook beside the dock door until loaded? Those are a couple of options I've heard other companies do over the years.
