Snakebite Kits
Hello everyone!!
Some of our techs have asked about getting snakebite kits for them to carry out in the field. Like most industries, we encounter various snakes, insects, and spiders when on location.
I have never purchased snakebite kits before, and I have conflicting thoughts on them given the information I have read about their effectiveness. Plus I worry about any liability that may fall our way.
Has anyone purchase or used these products? What are your thoughts about them?

The snake bite kits are a waste of money. If it's non-venomous, you have nothing to worry about other than some localized pain and maybe bleeding around the area of the bite. If it is a venomous snake, these snake bite kits are useless. The only thing you need is antivenom, which is stocked at most large hospitals.
There is no medical benefit to trying to suck out the venom, whether that be with a suction device (e.g., snake bite kit) or with your mouth.

Does this remind anyone else of Snakes on a Plane.

And I agree with Drew. Snakebite kits are a waste of money.

I’ve actually never heard of snakebite kits, we also don’t have any venomous snakes in western NY. What’s even in them? Like a suction cup to “remove” the venom?
Thank you for the feedback! It is greatly appreciated!!

I agree the kits aren't worth the time and trouble. spend the money on first aid training on what to do in the event of a snake bite.
I always hated when people said I have the snake, ya wanna see it????? as they are approaching you with it either in a bucket or dangling from a stick..

Snakes can't be trusted!
