Favorite/preferred air monitors for confined spaces?
Good afternoon y'all!
We need to replace our archaic 4-gas monitor with something from this century.
It's an MSA brand, and it's OKAY, but i've been having technical issues with it. Not sure if that's because of its age or because of the brand.
Does anyone have any favored air monitor calibration/bump station and monitor unit combos that they prefer?
I want something that is easy and simple for my folks to use. One-button press for on/off and automatic daily bump test/auto calibrations are a MUST.
Pic for attention. :)

I love RAE and Drager meters overall, but RAE, in my opinion, is all about simplicity, ranging from easy use, easy maintenance, etc. Others have programmable docking stations, such as Blackline, Industrial Scientific, and BW, but if you want simplicity, I'd recommend a RAE docking system with QRAE 3 meters.
I'd recommend checking out the Gas Meter Comparison Tool (link below from All Safe Industries in Louisville, KY), which helps you select the proper meter for your needs. Super handy tool, and I'd recommend All Safe for all your metering needs - it's who we use for everything and I've been using them for ~15 years now.

Good morning Amanda,
I have had great success with the RKI GXForce 4 gas instrument and the GX6000 6 gas confined space meter in case you need to have a PID or toxic sensor.
Check out

for more information.
I can also send you the info sheet if you are interested.
We use the latest 4 gas from RKI instruments and it's last version the GX-2009 along with the GP-2009 (attachable pump). The attachable pump allows the personal unit to become a personal air sample device vs have another device. When done, you pop it off and the worker can just wear the personal monitor as he works. The personal monitors are extremely durable and the sensors very cost effective compared to most of their competitors. You can buy a docking station that makes calibrating a breeze. I use them because we are an underground utility contractor and everything we do is absolutely hard on everything we use. They are moderately prices, durable and replacing a sensor doesn't cost 500.00. You can see these on RKI's website but would have to find a vendor. I use TG technical services, I think they are out of Alabama or MS. Great people, knowledgeable and good customer service.

I have used RAE Systems and MSA. I like Rae units. I found them simple to use, and their support was excellent. We did most of our own maintenance. Any thing we could fix in house would be sent to Rae. They would overnight a loaner to us. One caveat. This was before Rae was sucked up by Honeywell. Things may have changed.
We handled all our calibration and bump testing manually. No station.
When i first looked at this I thought it was an old dock charger for a game boy, that'll show my age.
We have industrial scientific Ventis Pro 5 meters. The meters work just fine but the service support is abysmal. We had to send a meter in for factory repair and it literally took three months to get it back. Not because of parts availability, but because they kept accusing us of not being able to pay for the repair. It was less than $800. I’m not going to post it here but I work for a company that nearly everyone has heard of and my credit card single limit is $10,000. I will never buy another industrial scientific product.

So Amanda.
What have you decided to go with?
There are a lot of suggestions here. Just curious to hear what you think and the factors that made your decision.
