Exam Prep Advice!!
Greetings everyone!
For all of those who have their ASP, would you know what's the best prep course? I'm leaning towards the one offered by the American Society of Safety Professionals. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I'd recommend the BCSP's examCORE. I sat in on the committee that helped create the first version several years ago and there were a lot of industry experts who created content, recorded videos, etc. I'm not familiar with the ASSP's course, and don't really recommend much that I'm not familiar with or can't personally vouch for, so that's why I lean towards the examCORE.

I used the ASSP course. I felt it was helpful, but it is definitely one of those things where you get out of it what you put in.
I found using the pocket prep app to be probably the most helpful because it lets you know where you are. It keeps statistics on your progress and allows you to focus your studying on your areas of weakness.

I'm currently studying for the ASP exam and got the ClickSafety prep. It's been helpful so far.

A friend of mine took the ClickSafety prep course and she thought it helped a whole lot. While it was for CSP and not ASP, I took the ASSP SafetyFOCUS exam prep course in person and it was exactly what I needed; plus, that one has the guarantee that if you fail the exam you can take the course again for free.

I used Bowen EHS for my ASP exam and used ClickSafety for the CSP exam. They are both really good. Please know that any course you take will not give you the exact questions that are used on the exam. After you take your prep course, give yourself time to go through the material to better understand each topic. Take time to know why certain answers are correct - AND - why the other answers are incorrect. It really helps to dive into the subject matter. Simply memorizing the material in your course probably will not suffice. I also used the PocketPrep app....it's good for kickstarting which areas to focus on, but again, the questions will not be the same on the exam.

For my CHST and ASP I used Click Safety's dull prep courses which included a prep class, the practice book, and the online practice exams. For the ASP, I also added flashcards from Mometrix Media. Regardless of what preparation source you use, DO NOT try to memorize questions and answers because they will not be the same as the actual exam. Study the explanations of answers to the quizzes and practice exams. Keep a notebook of the explanations and review them often.
