Proper Strain Relief?
I almost made this a quiz item but I am not 100% on this one myself. In the picture do these reels satisfy the requirement of 1910.305(g)(2)(iii) for strain relief on flexible drop cords?
My inclination is, "No." However, I am far from sure. What do you say?

Yes, these cord reels are an acceptable form of strain relief. By installing these cord reels, the tension is relieved from the outlet and cord in the ceiling, and there is no "strain" on the cord anymore since it's ran through a properly-secured cord reel. In this setup, there is no "pull" force being applied to the flexible cords, so it would be compliant and acceptable by both OSHA and NFPA.
I would verify the loads being applied to the flexible cords. Since it's wound up in a cord reel, larger electrical loads tend to pose an additional fire hazard.
Kellems grips also work well in these situations.
