Managing Universal Waste Aerosols

I recently shared a little infographic for managing universal waste lamps, so here’s another one I have for universal waste aerosols, the newest addition to the EPA’s universal waste universe.

Always remember to check your State’s specific universal waste regulations because states vary in their adoption and implementation of the federal program.

The federal universal waste regulations give us a little more wiggle room than normal because States are able to adopt the federal UW regulations as they see fit, AND they can add other universal wastes, with approval.

For example, in Texas, there’s a third option for managing universal waste aerosols - if you’re only puncturing paint spray cans, then the resulting material can still be managed as universal paint waste (we are soooo lucky to have universal paint waste in Texas!).
