Seeking Advice for Upcoming OSHA Associate Safety Engineer Interview
Hi everyone,
I have an upcoming interview on August 1st for an Associate Safety Engineer position with California OSHA. I’m looking for advice or experiences from anyone who has been through a similar interview process.
Specifically, I’d like to know:
What types of questions were asked?
How should I prepare for the duty statement, statement of qualifications, minimum qualifications, desirable qualifications, and special qualifications?
Any tips on how to handle the weighted grading system where 1 is the minimum and 5 is the highest?
Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Kelly Burbolz is a good friend of mine. She started with OSHA almost 30 years ago. I met her on the business end of things when she was a young CHSO out of the Appleton Office. She was always tough, consistent, but very fair! Over the years she has helped me a whole lot more than hurt me! She had risen up through the ranks and is now the Safety and Health Manager OSHA Region 5 , out of the Chicago Regional Office. She is only to willing to help young people getting into the business and she sure knows OSHA and what they expect. She always is willing to come speak to groups when I have asked! Send her an email and tell her, "Fitz" suggested her as a contact.
She works out of Chicago, but still lives in the Fox Valley/Lakeshore Area (Appleton, WI / Manitowoc).
Hope this helps!
