My Favorite Month of the Year...JUNE!
With our City partnering with the NSC in celebration of June as the National Safety Month, I always get super excited this time of the year.
I sent out 3 emails per week highlighting the topics NSC focuses on and include little tidbits on things we are focusing on as well.
Our month starts with the creation of the Safety Proclamation that I present in our City Council meeting. The Mayor reads and signs the proclamation. Not stopping there, I video our Safety Committee members and a few other key employees reciting the annual proclamation.
The culmination of events leads up to our June Safety Training Day. This year it will be held on June 19th. During this event we have four 20-minute sessions that our employees rotate through.
This year's topics are:
1️⃣ Body Mechanics & Stretching exercises
2️⃣ Goosechase Safety Scavenger Hunt
3️⃣ Advanced First-Aid
4️⃣ Incident Investigation & Documentation
Our Senior Leaders will be running the grills to provide both sessions with a hearty lunch. Then at the conclusion of each session, we have door prize drawings with some awesome gifts.
The Safety Committee and I plan for this event five months prior. They have really accepted my leadership style in that every year we try to raise the bar and make the next one even better than the previous year's event.
Last year, we even had Ted Schick (motivational leadership consultant) as our guest speaker (we can only afford to have a guest speaker every-other-year).
With only a week until our big event, I am busy heading everywhere to video the individual proclamation testimony videos tomorrow and Thursday. Then I head out on Friday to shoot some new b-roll.

Great Work Randy!
TOMORROW IS THE DAY!!! Over 5 months of planning for this event and we go live tomorrow. If you have never planned for an event such as this, it is a learning process for sure. The one thing I would recommend is to plan well ahead of the event.
