Space about Outlet?
I am familiar with the space about electrical equipment standard ( panelboards, switches, breakers, starters, transformers, etc. )
Does this standard apply to wall outlet receptacles?
If not, is anyone familiar with any best practices for storing things around outlets (used or unused). Do they require a certain amount of space in front of, to the side of?

Try not to bash things into them

There are no NEC or other requirements for clearance around an outlet, other than some industry-specific requirements like Tim mentioned.
Overall, as long as you don't need access to it, there's not a lot of requirements. Outlets are blocked all the time in both residential and commercial buildings. Doesn't make it right, but there's no regulatory requirements. It's best to keep them clear, if possible, though.
Don’t lock the outlets!!
