Scaffolding Regulations for General Industry
I'm trying to find the regulations and particulars for Scaffolding use in General Industry. In a search I come up with Scaffolds and Rope Descent Systems. Should I just be using the 1926 standards or am I in the wrong place? Or should I find the ANSI standard? I have not worked with Scaffolding in the past so want to see what we need to do to be compliant. These would be to allow a tech to work along side a semi trailer.

1910.27(a) refers you to 1926 Subpart L, so you will just follow the construction industry's standards. General industry (1910) does not have any scaffolding standards.
I'd recommend checking out ANSI A10.8, as well.

Drew is spot on!
I have been in manufacturing for over 50 years. I have seen little to no scaffolding used by us. I sometimes have seen construction contractors bring it into the plant.
Wait a second, come to think about it I have to amend what I just said. In about 1995, as I recall, I started to see scissors lifts used in our plants frequently. OSHA considers scissors lifts to be "mobile scaffolding!"
If I was in charge of OSHA Standard writing I would put scissors lifts in with manlifts. But that's just me and not the current state of the actual standards!
