Portable Battery Safety
Does anyone have any good resources for portable battery safety? Thinking anything ranging from storage, to charging to use and disposal.
Just following up on an interesting conversation I had at lunch today regarding battery use (specifically in construction) and the sentiment that the industry is going to move forward towards more battery use in the future.

What kind of batteries?
The best resource as a safety professional are those you develop yourself. The guys who really crush safety take a multitude of material, run it through the needs of their own company/workers and customize it to their own specific use. That's what I was taught. Everyone makes a pizza, make it how it you like it. The basic starting point is to ID what products your men use, get the manual pdf's from the manufacturer. The manufacturers may even have some stuff to get you started. These can serve as the "bones" of a training documents, tool box talk or even a program. Review pertinent regulations, sprinkle them in. Make it look professional with company logos, etc. I and some colleagues years ago used to joke, still do, that developing safety programs and training documents goes by this axiom, "Plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery." You can find most things online, osha.gov, ANSI, USACE. It's not about being a genius, just knowing where to find information and how to tailor it to your use.
