Forklift drivers not honking -creative solution help needed.
My drivers aren’t honking at intersections like they should despite saying something to them again and again.
I’m tired of nagging. It’s time for action.
My next step is to get a bluetooth speaker that blasts “baby shark” on repeat. If they can’t remember honk their horn to announce their presence at intersections, that song blasting over a speaker ice-cream-truck-style will certainly alert operators to forklifts in the area.
How to best make this happen? Bluetooth speaker and ipod shuffle with just “baby shark”? Or are there cheap like noise makers I could lock to the forklift?
I will only have to make an example out of one driver to make everyone buy into honking their horns again 😇😇😇

What about the blue lights that shine behind the forklifts? Granted, they're only effective if the person is actually looking in that direction, but it's just an added layer of protection.

I had our Supervisors/Managers share this in their daily shift meetings

You need help! You cannot do it ALONE
Several years ago when I saw a hazard I told the employees involved but the supervisor and managers in that area! So after I talked to the employees I immediately paged, called or went directly to the Supervisor's or Manager's Office! I always asked, "What are you going to do to keep your employees' safe?! Most importantly to me, is what are you doing to keep ME Safe?" in this case I am a pedestrian in your area and it is not presently safe?" If i did not get "help" I went right up the food chain!
In my experience YOU CANNOT DO THIS on your own! Get the management and culture behind you!
Another tip! Do not be the only PIT Policeman! #1 By all means get your management with you! #2 Create a PIT Safety Team make them your Trainers for PIT operation. In your Train the Training have them be responsible for the employees they train! When they see unsafe behavior they have to step to the plate.
Bottom line I had a lot happier life when I stopped being the only "Safety Cop!"

I am not a Cop!

They make a sensor sign that you can put in the area with audible and visual notification that a forklift is in the area. I will put the link below.
You can also tie this into mag locks for gates. When the sensor is activated, the gate will lock till the hazard has left the area and the sensor is not active.
You can also do proximity sensor system, which are expensive. They will actually shut the maching down if a collison is possible with a pedestrian.
