New to Safety Knights
Hello, I am new to the group here. My name is Courtney Cox I am the EHS director at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith and I am always looking for fellow public sector or academic/higher education safety professional. I am always looking to network as well! I am currently going through the how to of this platform so this is the reason for my initial post. What are things that I, starting out here, need to know?

I don’t know what you need to know, but I work for smallish university attached to a big hospital in New York. There are a few other higher ed folks around too.

Welcome Courtney!! Just use it as much or as little as you'd like! We are happy to have you here.

Welcome Courtney! How can we help?

Welcome to the group. This is a great group of safety professionals that post interesting topics. We are glad to have you. Some of us are field guys while others are educators who keep us focused on new topics

Welcome :)

Welcome! I love going through the different topics and seeing how helpful our community is! There a lot of very knowledgable people here.
Wow, quite a task ahead of you. Obviously the Emergency Response plan should probably number one on your list as you already know. After that I would just start going through the code section by section and if it applies, start with that. Maybe give OSHA Consultation a call, I’ve had good experience with them, though limited
Hello Courtney! I live and work just north of you in Northwest Arkansas! Would be glad to connect and assist in any way possible. Welcome to the crew!

I always wondered what you did with your career after Friends ended. JK You probably are sick of the reference. But, welcome to SK! It is a great community where you can ask questions and usually get some great advice.

I employed our insurance broker to identify the policy and procedures needed followed by OSHA outreach. Both are often untapped resources that are free and beneficial for 3rd party audits, training and developing safety management systems for new companies.
