What projects have you been working on?
Been a minute since I’ve posted! What’s everyone working on these days? In addition to my day job at RED Rochester I’ve been plugging away at my new Spanish learning app.
What about you??

Welcome "back"!
I've been slammed and traveling to various places. This is always our busiest time of the year. Just conducted two 8-hour HAZMAT Tech refresher courses and an asbestos course for 2 companies in the Joplin, MO area this week. Headed to San Antonio next week to lead a 3-day joint training with Dräger for Marathon Petroleum Company on confined space and excavation for their HES professionals. Following up with a week in New Jersey for a long-time customer teaching an 8-Hour NFPA 70E Qualified Person training and a 24-Hour Rescue from Heights (High-Angle Rescue) course. Been plugging away on new EHS manuals for 2 different companies during my evenings at the hotels, too.
All that to FINALLY take off the last 2 weeks of December and first week of January. Never been able to take off 3 weeks in a row, but thankfully I'm at a point where I can do that thanks to a great team of employees who work with me. Looking forward to being home for my kid's entire 2-week Christmas break, as well as my wife's bday on Jan. 2nd. Pretty pumped about that! It'll be some great quality time with my wife and kids.
How's things for you?

I am working on a new machine safety policy that includes prevention through design requirements. Also, starting on to update our confined space entry program after we identified some shortcoming in a recent audit.
Hoping to get on the mountain and get some skiing some. We have not had a significant snowstorm in Tahoe yet.

I was recovering from surgery but am almost back to 100%. I am a consultant. I lost two of my major customers so am trying to dig up a couple replacements or come up with a couple innovative ways to stimulate some business. I am working on updating my website and my LI Profile page.

I would appreciate any feedback anyone might have!
Remembering back to when I was a site HR/OHS Manager I think I got smart my last 10 years. I would use December as my planning month for the upcoming year, which I found useful in both fields. In HR I had to plan for getting an Affirmative Action Plan and report ready for OFCCP by April 1, and soon there after spring recruiting at college career fairs. In OHS it was 2017 so there was not the official reporting injuries like there is now, but you had to use January to prepare the 300A, and usually I had to report the past years injuries to the State Industrial Hygiene Department (at UW-Madison) for the US Department of Labor (not every year but 2/3). I also scheduled monthly training topics. February was the official time per corporate to review Emergency Action Policy and Business Continuation Policy and run drills to test them. I also had to make sure I scheduled in quarterly WC Reserve reports to Division Finance and HR. Basically December was a planning month, unless big fires (problems) arose!
Oh My Gosh! I am having flashbacks, so glad I retired from all that!

Working on my MBA

Wow, I just saw this post and here it goes...
1. Safety Coat project (yes, I know it's an incentive but I don't need any feedback).
2. Backing Incident Prevention policy. I'm in the process of creating a policy from scratch since I have not received any feedback from any of the Safety Communities I am a part of. Inventing the wheel is not as much fun.
3. Hazard/Risk Assessment. It has been years since this has been updated and it is going to be a major project. Hopefully, the Divisions will be able to do all the heavy lifting for me.
4. Rolling out our micro-safety training to two more Divisions. This would mean that 12 of our Divisions are participating.
5. Develop a few short safety videos to post on our internal Recognition website as the new Safety blog. I have some great ideas (slips, trips, and falls Vs. mounting/dismounting vehicles and equipment, Backing Safety, and Good Cop/Bad Cop spoof).
Personal side:
1. Working on my YouTube videos and trying to put together a plan/schedule for working on my next videos.
2. Writing my book on Leadership. The Chapters have been named, topics and stories have been jotted down, and now I just need to add the rest of the context.
December has always been my reflecting/planning month to get ready for the next year. Go over things that were successful, things that still need work, and things that did not go as planned. Then I plan what the major projects I want to work on in 2024.
Have a great day!!!
