Looking for some policy examples
I know that most organizations have a long history of creating policies, procedures, JSAs, and SOPs. But for the rest of those who do not have established policies I decided to ask here. There are two policies that our Safety Committee will be in charge of creating.
1️⃣ Cellphone policy
2️⃣ Backing Incident prevention
So, please if you are willing to share what you have as far as policies for either of the above items let me know.
I've always been a fan of not having to reinvent the wheel and start from scratch. Before I turned to ChatGPT (;-) or Google search, I thought I would ask the safety community first.
Let me know what you have. The Safety Committee is meeting in two weeks to review the sixty backing incidents we've had since 2019.
Let me know and thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Have a great day!!!

We require a safety cone to be placed at the rear of the vehicle when it parked. We also have a GOAL program which means Get Out And Look. Prior to backing we want our drivers to get out and look for hazards. If there are 2 people in the vehicle, one must get out to spot for the driver.
Hi Randy
I have just come across Safety Knights and your post on LinkedIn and totally agree with you as far as re-inventing the wheel. I have a couple of reversing procedures that I am happy to share with you. Although I am in Australia I think our road/reversing safety techniques can be adapted to suit.
Can I send them to you by email?
Kind regards - Julie Perham
