Attention Fall Protection Trainers
If you are a fall protection trainer, are you completing fall protection-specific refresher training for yourself in accordance with ANSI Z359.2?
In the 2023 edition of the ANSI Z359.2 standard, it states that a training plan for retraining shall be developed for qualified persons, TRAINERS, and program administrators to update their education. It goes on to say that "It is recommended that trainers accumulate 1.6 IACET CEUs every year that relate to fall protection and rescue.
This equates to ππ πππππ πππ ππππ of professional development specifically geared towards fall protection and rescue.
Are you and/or your fall protection trainers staying up to date?

Ah I am so glad you sent me this! A friend wanted me to take over a Fall Protection Class for him as he was busy. I have taught Fall Protection from a "information basis" in my OSHA Outreach Classes. So I initially said, "Maybe." You changed my answer for what I would call "Authorized Training" to a definite "No!"
I know enough about Fall Protection to be "dangerous" and there-in is the problem!

I am going through some training for myself through OSHAcademy for myself but I havenβt gone through the fall protection portion yet. Where do you get your training?

Drew, thinking more on the topic. If I were lots younger I would have had to make a choice between OHS and HR. It got really tough to keep current in the diverse topics of OHS and HR. Even just recruiting got to be a full time job keeping current with OFCCP regs and learning online tips and tricks of the trade. It was tough in the 80s and 90s to do this, and darn near impossible I to the 2000s. Probably over the edge tough now! Luckily for me in the early 2000s I could keep my SHRM certs current by submitting my OSHA training for continuing ed. I was told to be certified in something after my MS by my employer. So I chose PHR, would have passed SHPR easily too, over a CSP. As things turned out should have went for CSP. But woulda, coulda, shouldaβ¦.
