Chemical Bottles/Container Disposal
Safety Professionals,
What’s your process/procedures for getting rid of used/unused chemicals/acid bottles and containers? I’m currently in the construction industry (bridge reconstruction to be specific).

Do they meet the RCRA definition of hazardous waste?
If they're used and the bottle is empty, it can go in the trash. If there is still liquid in the bottle and they're not hazardous waste, then dispose of it however your local waste management rules dictate. If they are hazardous waste, then you're a hazardous waste generator and must register with the EPA. The amount of waste you generate will dictate the requirements. North Carolina may have specific rules as well.

Do you guys have any triple rinse procedures in place? That can help meet the definition of RCRA empty
