Dock ramps
Are there any standards regarding concrete dock door ramps. We have a 10ft ramp that customers back up onto to be loaded out. If lined up evenly there would be 18" on each side for the driver to exit the vehicle if needed. Where the top of the ramp meets the dock door there is a 51" drop. I would think a rail on each side of the ramp would suffice. Any input is appreciated.

Not necessarily dock door requirements, but fall protection requirements. Since the drop is more the 4 feet, the fall protection standard is relevant. The railings on each side must meet the requirements of the regulation.
Also, you will want to have a system that prevents the vehicle from leaving the dock with the door open. Sounds like we are not talking about big rigs so a trailer docking system is unlikely. At a previous job, when vehicle precluded us form using the trailer docking system, we would take the keys from the driver before opening the door and place them on a hook on the dock door. When the door is open, the keys are 12 feet up, preventing the driver from leaving before the door is closed.
