Hazcom chemical types
Hey everyone! While going through some records and notes I stumbled upon this flow chart I made at a previous job.
There was lots of confusion about when a chemical hazard required training and an SDS to be maintained.
A coworker claimed even White Out needed an SDS (It doesn't, because it's an article), and that we needed to train EVERYONE on Windex since our cleaning staff used it (No, we don't, just affected employees).
When she retired, I took her place and jumped on the opportunity to eliminate a waste of training and effort. I made this flow chart to explain the difference between articles, consumer items, and general chemical hazards. I reduced our online chemical inventory from 11,000 to 4,000 using this criteria, and went to a different company before I was able to complete the project.
Maybe it will help someone else too. :)

Well done Amanda!

Very cool! Thank you for sharing.

For some reason the image got compressed, so if you’d like the hi rez pdf of this shoot me a message with your email :)

Thanks, for this. We are switching to electronic SDS and trying to eliminate SDS we don't need so this is super helpful.
