Too much snow
Never thought I would say this but we have too much snow in Tahoe. Last week we got 4 feet. Expecting another 2 feet by Tuesday.
The amount of snow is creating lots of hazards. Anyone had to deal with snow immersion suffocation. We also have snow falling from roofs. Buried propane tanks create problems. Visibility at intersections is reduced due to large snowbanks.
My wife is so fed up, she booked a trip to visit family in South Carolina to get a break for winter.

You can have all that! I'll deal with our tornadoes! 🌪 🤣

Wow I was in Utah last week and up on Traverse Mountain, in Lehi near Mt Timpanogos. We were at only about 6500', But it snowed so hard for two days we were snowed in for two days! I have not seen snow like that in Northern Wisconsin in a long long time! I felt so sorry for all the Mule Deer and Elk. They were coming down from the high country to find something to eat, and walking all around the neighborhood. The poor deer could hardly walk through the snow.
I saw a huge Bull Elk laying beside of I-80 coning down from Park City. Some semi must have really smacked into him, it was dead! So Sad!
I saw hundreds of Chukers walking around. They walked on top of the snow and sort of waddle. They would borrow into the snow for warmth. I saw 10 come out of a single hole from a snow bank in my daughters yard. I dubbed them "Utah Penguins!" They were funny! Drove my daughter's dachshund CRAZY!

That’s a bit much…we’re only at 51” for the season here but it keeps melting in between. Finally getting a good snow tonight that looks like it’ll last a bit.

This is the snowfall totals at the Central Sierra Snow Lab which is about 20 miles from my place. We are rapidly approaching 50 feet of snow.
California so now preparing for possible snow melt floods. An atmospheric river is forecast for next week. This forecast is warmer than what we are have been experiencing so far. It's likely to cause significant snow melt at the lower elevations which could lead to significant flooding.
California relies on snow melt for a large portion of its water supply. Even though we have had this great snow year, most of the snow melt will just go out to the Pacific Ocean because California has not built any additional water storage in over 50 years. During that same time frame, the states population has more than doubled.

As a avid skier, you can never have too much snow :-)
What I am concerned about with all these states getting record amounts of snow (including Colorado where I live) is what we are going to get in the spring / early summer with run off. I am fully anticipating flash floods, erosion issues, and higher than average fatalities with folks that enjoy the water sports who are going to get in over their head with the flows that this level of snow is going to create.
