Anyone use LifeVac devices?
Curious if anyone has these devices (or something very similar) in your first aid kits.
My company has formally trained first responders when it comes to choking, but I'm looking for something that anyone can use in a general setting such as a cafeteria or large venue.
Please share your thoughts....

I'd be cautious of those. LifeVac, Dechoker, and other similar devices have been issued multiple warnings by the FDA. Even those company's own staff will tell you it's a last-ditch effort and abdominal thrusts should be done first.
To work properly, it relies on a good seal around the face to get suction, so you'd still have to train people on it, so might as well train on how to do abdominal thrusts (aka "Heimlich manuever"), which are much more effective.
I'll just leave it at this - there's a reason those devices are not approved to be taught in the first aid curriculum.

I had never even heard of these before, but it's interesting to hear about. I'd need to see some data proving they're safe, and by Drew's mention of the FDA warnings, I'd probably have to avoid it for now.
