Log for Synthetic Web Slings?
We use synthetic web slings. I train operators on how to inspect them before each use and how to dispose of damaged slings and where to find new ones. Is it a requirement to keep a log of when a sling is out of service? I know there's below the hook inspections but do you have to document every sling that gets replaced?

I do through the inspections that is given to me from my below the hook company. I always stay with the no documentation, didn't happen. I even have pictures of the old slings being cut up and thrown out that gets attached to the paperwork. May be overkill, but I am like that.

It isn't required to log the slings that are taken out of service. A lot of my customers document them and keep the records for a couple months after I do a below the hook inspection on all their rigging gear. I will double check the ASME B30.9 standard for the correct terminology for you tomorrow. I know they updated a couple things in 2021.

ASME B30.9-5.9.4(e)Documentation that the most recent periodic inspection was performed shall be maintained. (f) Inspection records on individual slings are not required.
Written records on frequent inspections are not required. OSHA 1910.184 doesn't say anything about documentation or inspection of synthetic slings.
Hope this helps.
