OSHA Now To Issue Citations Per Instance
If you haven't heard yet, OSHA has published a memo that they will now be issuing citations on an instance-by-instance scenario. This will result in heftier penalties for citations since they can cite multiple cases for the same violation.
If you don't follow him already, I recommend following Travis Vancd with Fisher Phillips, who has posted a good article on this new change.

Probably for the best. Current fines are minimal to big companies, I feel like the published citation is worse than the fine

When I take on a new client I always advise new customers to do #3. They always look at me like I am a Martian or something!
And #4 THINK BIG! If I could I would put EVERYONE on a Safety Team! You want 0 Injuries that is a sure fire way!
I use to read Phil Russel all the time too. But sometimes I think those guys make it to much like we are at WAR with OSHA! I am not saying you should not be prepared, because you should! However, sometimes I think we worry about OSHA too much, when we should be more worried about keeping our employees SAFE!
I use to copy, paste, and save all their postings, but not so much any longer! I have my own tips on dealing with OSHA when in the plant and in an Informal Conference (if the employer wants to go beyond the I Conference, then I refer them to Phil or Travis types).
But I am just an old Hippie, trying to keep people safe!

Thank you!

Just met with a client the other day who said he was willing to get some fines as long as the "family atmosphere" of the workplace wasn't harmed.
