How many hours a week do you work?
Curious what the workload looks like for our group. Also drop a comment if you're one of those savages working >60 hours a week consistently - maybe one of the consultants on here can help manage your workload :P

I have a hard stop at 60. If I'm in the office all week, it's a hard stop at 40 so i can have family time. If I'm traveling, it's 50-60.

What about us civil servants diligently working our 37.5?

I hold a strong 40 unless there is an emergency.
I have learned to value my families and leave time for my outdoor activities.
I work to live not live to work.

I would have to say 45 at the day job, and probably another 20+ with the business start up. It seems I am always doing something with one or the other. Trying to come to terms with making a decent salary to running a business with no salary for a little bit.
Has to pay off right?

Now UNDER 40 closer to 30!
When I worked in the Corporate World, at least 70 hours per week. When not traveling most at that time at the facility, until the advent of pcs and cell phones. I thought it was so "cool" in about 2000 when they gave me a lap top and cell phone! I thought I had arrived. But then I realized they now expected me to be on constant "call" and bring work home! As an HR Manager too, I did a fair about of time recruiting (online) from my (extended size) Lazy Boy and a chair work table. In H&S I wrote most of Policies and Procedures, created training, and entered data into my JSAs from that Lazy Boy! In the 2007 when middle daughter graduated from college, and got married, I made her upstairs bedroom into my Office and Man Cave! When I am working, my dog is allowed but all females must knock and ask for entry! Like my "Man Bathroom" no female articles allowed and NO negative comments on the look or feel of the room! (Big sign on the door to the bathroom that, "The seat is probably UP! If you have daughters and wife I am sure you can relate!)
Did that routine for 25 of my 41 years in the Manufacturing Corporate World in H&S and HR (in both roles at the same time). The 17 years in Manufacturing Management I actually worked less hours, at most 60. However, I was more physically tired as I was ALWAYS on the GO always moving! On your feet 85% of the day! Sometimes I got very bored in an Office doing stuff behind a desk! But in Mfg I was very seldom bored (and those times were in an office). The time in Mfg FLEW BY! So 60 hours seemed like 30 in HR and H&S! I did most of my Mfg time when my kids were smaller.
I am poud of myself! Worked 60 hours a week, helped raise a family of three daughters (teenagers at the time) and got my MS in 18 months! My 3 teenage daughter's saw their old man walk down the isle with his gown and hood and get the degree. I actually learned more than the BA 25 years before!

I always try to keep it to 40 hours a week. Most weeks it's not difficult because my job in at the corporate level. Our field staff often work longer hours.

40 hours with a HARD STOP unless there is a special circumstance like an emergency, planned training etc. that requires overtime.
Then I take comp time the following week and work however many hours fewer.
I work to live, not live to work. I made this expectation abundantly clear during my interview and so far management has been supportive of it.

I am not working much currently. In fact I have a lot of free time. I also don’t want a lot. I only want enough business to stay active in the profession. Enough to be a financial blessing to others and enough to pay for my hobbies. You would think that is easy. Hahahaha it’s not. At least not yet for this year.

Working fewer hours to increase family time is why I left corporate.
I worked close to 50-55 hours week for almost three months straight. It wasn't bad. Monday thru Friday was around 8 hour days and four on Saturdays and 4 on Sundays. My problem was that I was close to 2 hours away from the plant I was a Safety Coordinator at. I wasn't given per diem, nor was I given a hotel to stay at, or else I would have worked more hours M-F, then home on the weekends.
A fire had started in a tunnel under the shop where I and the contractors worked at. We all were off for two weeks until they called us all back. I went on a 55-60 hour week until the high voltage repair work was caught up, then went down to 40 hour weeks, connections to outside were made, and my contract ended two weeks ago, so now, I'm getting some rest and personal business taken care of until the next one comes. I am using this time wisely.
