Got OSHA inspection questions?
Hey everyone! Just wanted to share that we're doing an AMA (Ask me anything) about OSHA inspections with OSHA lawyer Phillip Russell.
It will be a live event where you can ask any questions you might have, with the ability to ask anonymously! It's going to take place on Thursday, October 27th, at 1 PM EST. If you have questions but can't make it to the live event, leave a comment or send them to me directly and we'll try our best to get them answered for the recording.

I am a big proponent of Phil! I have been reading his stuff on LI for over 2 years. I keep many of his postings in my files and he has even taught me a few things. My former company (for 23 years) like many major employers, retains his firm as their major Labor Law and OSHA source. Our Corporate Policy was that any Willful citation or any inspection with more than 3 Serious Violations were to be automatically referred to Ogletree! Ogletree is one of the largest Labor Law firms in the country with offices in every major city. They handle more than OSHA, almost anything in employee relations from Union prevention to Wage and Salary. I do not think they handle WC on individual cases but I know we did not. So Phil has lots and lots of resources behind him! I had to call Ogletree for other HR stuff but not for OSHA.
So, I like Phil's stuff! However, I do not agree with everything he says. First most of his stuff seems to be construction oriented as that is where his "working" experience was. Second, he has never managed Safety Culture and although I think he understands it some, has never been on the front lines. Third his bent is definitely Pro-Employer. There is nothing really wrong with that as he is an Employer Advocate. Fourth related to #3, is our goal to be "legal' or to keep our employees safe? I think sometimes Phil and I disagree here, as I believe they are not the same and he tends to stress the latter over the former.
Never-the-less Phil is great and but I temper what he says a little like everything else. I use to have Ogletree's number in Milwaukee on speed dial!
I'm new to the civilian side of safety, as I just retired from the Navy doing Safety and have never had to repot to OSHA directly. I understand recordables and how to complete the OSHA 300 but I have a question about log #s on the 300 do they have to be 1,2,3,4,ect. or can it be 1, 5,6,10,15. I ask because if I am logging first aid cases, vehicle accidents and osha recordables all on one log then only the log # that matches the Osha recordables would be in the 300. is that acceptable?
