Monkeypox
Hello,
Is anyone here implementing ATD programs against Monkeypox in your workplace? If so, what lessons learned do you mind sharing?

I have not seen any of our customers doing this since it's such a small mortality rate. According to the CDC, as of today, there are nearly 24k cases in the US, but only 1 fatality from it.

Cal/OSHA now requires program implementation for certain employers. It appears that Construction workplaces are exempt only if the working location allows. Section 5199 states employers must Implement a written Aerosol Transmissible Disease Exposure Control Plan specific to the workplace and operations. Facilities such as Homeless shelters are covered by section 5199.

None - we’re still doing some residual COVID precautions (encouraging social distance, offer masks, etc) but nothing specific for MP

As a hospital, we do have some precautions in place, but they mostly involve screening symptomatic patients.
I’m not 100% familiar with California regs, but being from New York, I am familiar with strict regulation. Section 5199 takes a pretty broad brush to their definition of diseases spread by aerosols, but it also only applies to certain high risk situations like hospitals, nursing homes, and homeless shelters. Those organizations must have an aerosolized transmissible disease program regardless, and there is nothing specific to do for monkey pox.

According to the CDC website monkeypox is spread by direct contact not airborne transmission. The CDC monkeypox page has lots of great info. https://www.cdc.gov/poxvirus/monkeypox/index.html

Cal/OSHA just released some guidance on this. You may have to create a free account, but the link below summarizes it.
