Safety recognition / newsletter questions
We are kicking off a quarterly recognition program for employees who demonstrate exemplary safe behavior. We want to include a short bio/interview with each person recognized and I’m struggling on what to ask them that would be interesting for others to read.
Ideas so far:
Name/current role/ length of time with the company
What you like most about working here?
Why have you taken an active role in safety?
Why should others take an active role in safety?

Maybe a few examples of what they did that exemplified your safety values? That’s what we do and I think it works pretty well

Maybe ask what they do outside of work? most know the people inside of work, but outside is often pretty interesting.
So what Bench Marks are you using for measuring Exemplary? I like the idea of it for sure.
Can you do something fun? If you could be any animal, what animal would it be and why? Would you rather have the ability to fly, or the ability to be invisible? Sweet or savory?
It's fun and will likely get even more people to read out of intrigue.

I like everyone's ideas! For this type of thing, we would have give them a "coin" that showed that the company appreciated their efforts. We also sometimes had a lunch for them. We always wrote a letter to them stating how we appreciate their efforts and it was signed by the CEO. This is a great idea to recognize employees for their contributions.
ASK:
Why is safety important to you? Followed up by asking "can safety also be about looking out for the person working next to you?"
