Has your company had to make any layoffs?
Obviously there are some concerns about the economy and I’ve seen a bunch of tech companies and auto manufacturers lay off some of their people. Curious if the layoffs have hit any of you yet? So far things have been rock solid on my end (thankfully)

No way, we're hiring. Tech, tradespeople, send them our way. Forbe's 35th best large employer in the US.

We just got approval to add 7 additional safety slots. Not sure when they will be posted. The positions will be in the Midwest and Northeast.

Oh my gosh? Who in manufacturing has not lived though layoffs? I grew up in the auto business. For months we would be working "balls to the walls!' Hiring people as fast as they walked in the doors, and working 10-12 hour shifts 6-7 days a week. Even as a salaried exempt supervisor, I would make more in OT than my base salary! Then BAM! It was like someone just the pulls the plug! I remember when I first got into Personnel in the early 80s. The car industry went into a huge DEPRESSION! It was when the Japanese starting kicking our butts! Prior that Toyotas and Honda were considered junk, within six months they were equal to BMWs and Mercedes! Ford and Chrysler were inches from going belly-up! The Plant Manager came in our office and met with myself and the Personnel Manager. It was a Wednesday and the PM told us he wanted 25% of the work force GONE in two days, and another 25% a week later (on Friday), including all employees salaried and hourly. We would cut jobs at our plant from 3500 to 1700 and eventually down to 900. My first thought was I only had at the time 5 years service and people would be cut with more service than I, so I may well be out too. Since I was not in the UAW and salaried they did not have to go strictly by seniority. I was told a day later I would be retained as I had a college degree and was seen as "future" leader. I do not know which was worse getting laid-off off myself or as Assist Personnel Manager having to inform my friends that were supervisors with many more years of time as me, that through no fault of their own they were losing their jobs (and have them stare at me wondering why I got to stay).
This time it took longer to bounce back, after having forced time off, reduced benefits, and actually salaried reductions. But two years later we were back to, "balls to the walls" but only up to about 2000 employees. The real "Glory Days" were gone forever!

My company is actually hiring - so if anyone is looking - please reach out!
We are a service industry so it may be different but we are hiring like crazy at the moment, need people desperately.
