That’s an expensive area. I would shoot for mid $120k at a minimum.

Wow! Estimated pay is lower than I expected. Rent is so crazy in the Bay Area that I’m not sure it’s viable.

That's a really expensive area. I would be very sure you understand purchase or rental cost before you consider relocating into the Bay area. Also be warned that expensive doesn't always mean the neighborhoods will be to your liking. Research what's in commute distance carefully. Mountain View area is very nice, but that might not be close.

I am late to the party, but lots of completely valid points below. hoping to add some insight for those who may have similar questions in the future. ....and as a current person in SF Bay Area with a similar background (BS/MS/CSP/CHST/10 & 30 hr/waiting for CIH), see below.

1. Consider your worth, are you coming in with any certs and/or education? Use various survey mechanisms (BSCP, ASSP) to get an estimate based on surveys.

2. The SF Bay Area can vary tremendously with COL (rents in certain areas vs other areas), but keep in mind that additional are the same (fuel prices, income tax, sales tax, county tax). Some cheaper places will come with lower rent/houses, but your commutes will go longer, fuel prices will go up or get an EV and your power costs go up to charge.

3. What kind of perks/benefits on the side? 401k matches, tuition, RSUs? Depending on the location/company, sometimes the sides perks of paid education can be leveraged to gain access to some notable MBA/Business schools if that's in your career path/endeavors. Keep in mind, that may require some items in the personal life to be put on hold (new car, house, etc).

4. Is this a company you want to work for? If so, can you take position and have a written plan/development plan to move to another location. These are details only you will know. Keep in mind, that this is risky if its only verbal otherwise you may get stuck in an expensive place.
