isitrecordable?
An employee splashed diluted chemical in her eye and immediately washed it out at an emergency eye wash. She sees a doctor and the doctor found no burns or damage to the eye but observed the pupil reacted to the chemical by dilating itself. The doctor provided an eye patch to the employee and instructed her to wear it for one week. After one week the doctor instructed the employee to discontinue use of the eye patch. Is it recordable?

Wohooo!!! Got it right

Good question.

I feel this is a no because an eye patch is listed under First Aid measures...
Definitely no but my main question would be whether or not wearing of eye patch interfered with her ability to do her job (depth perception or driving PIT’s) then it could be recordable under 1904.

I would ask if the employee was given any work restrictions?

This one tricked me! Good question and good learning experience. My instinct was, "okay medical treatment - this is recordable." Really, though, the requirement calls out "medical treatment beyond first-aid" and identifies an eye patch as first-aid. Happy Friday!
