Better to inspect than regret!
I figured I would share this with everyone. A crane operator I worked with a few years back sent this to me. He is currently operating a 300 ton crane on a heavy construction project. Due to some high winds he boomed all the way down prior to leaving work. In the morning he did a thorough inspection & found one of the keepers on the lattice boom connection pins was missing. The picture is a little hard to see but it is the internal keeper of the pin closest to the picture.
Quality inspections go a long way.

Thanks for sharing! As someone who doesn't work with cranes a lot I'm a little confused what this is. Mind going into a little more detail what the deficiency is, and what it should look like? Always looking to learn!

Also worth noting the recent crane collapse in Canada. Here’s a link to the article: https://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/crane-collapses-in-downtown-kelowna - stuff is no joke. Thanks again for sharing this topic

Wow, it's a good thing that was caught before anyone got seriously hurt!

That is a great find - and a win for you. They knew how important it is to do a pre work inspection because I am sure you trained them :) awesome job!

This highlights the importance of frequent inspections. Could be a great resource to add to your crane operator training.
