Safety Innovation Processes
Hi all,
I'm interested in hearing about innovation when it comes to safety devices/services.
Does anyone have some ways the are approaching innovation when it comes to safety?
Some that I've seen is the incorporation of the safety manager whenever the continuous improvement group is trying to come up with something. Also, rapid prototyping of machine guarding with 3D printing and CAD.

Love it! I think it would be cool to invest some money into drones and cameras. Attach a four gas meter to the drone and fly it throughout a confined space getting a video feed and gas readings

Love the concept of rapid prototyping machine guarding components! I have not thought of that one.
I find VR training and wearable sensors a big portion of the “future” of safety. There are a decent number of companies exploring the VR training concept right now. It would be so impactful to have a training session, throw on the goggles, and then practice the skill you just learned. Wearables are also a promising path. So many companies are working on wearable ergo sensors to help reduce risk. I’m also interested to see where IH sensors go. It would be awesome to throw a tiny sensor on an employee and still achieve the necessary LOQ for 10% of the OEL.

I've seen alot of articles recently about video monitoring and using AI programs that monitors employees all times. It highlights body movements for bad lifting techniques, unsafe acts, and many other hazards we, as safety professionals may not see happening. Gives us knowledge for how we can make corrections or adjustments to our programs.
