Hiring managers: what qualities do you most look for in a candidate applying for a safety position?
I've never been in a position where I've been hiring someone, but I'm curious what hiring managers are looking for in a safety professional. Is there a specific certification you like, degree, experience, etc.?

I also help in the hiring of EHS people. I look for floor experience with school however if they don't have any schooling willing to go. I am a strong beleiver that hands on always better , then schooling cause you need to be brought up to speed on logistics and follow through.

I am not a hiring manager but I have had the opportunity to help my manager choose and interview some recent candidates. We look for EHS experience (whether in school or a job - ideally somebody with an environmental/safety/IH degree) and communication skills. The communication skills are the most important, in my opinion.
