
Early Intervention & Medical Care Management
1.0 Purpose and Scope
1.1 The purpose of this procedure is to:
1.1.1 Assist site leadership in responding to non-emergency incidents, including reports of non-specific pain or discomfort.
1.1.2 Support the company’s injury reduction efforts.
1.2 All medical emergencies are outside the scope of this program and are to be addressed in accordance with Plenco’s Emergency Response Plan Binder.
2.0 Program Requirements
2.1 Designation of a LHCP

2.1.1 Identify a local licensed health care provider (LHCP) to whom employees are referred for initial treatment.
2.1.2 Employees in an employee-choice state may elect to seek care elsewhere; however, these locations should still have a local health care provider identified.
2.1.3 Meet with representative(s) of the LHCP to define the scope of service. See Attachment 1 for discussion points for that meeting.
2.2 Employee Communication

2.2.1 Post the LHCP’s contact information including name, address, phone number, driving directions & how to obtain care for a work related injury or illness on employee communication boards. Refer to Attachment 2 for a sample posting.
2.2.2 Ensure the posting includes detailed instructions for obtaining care during off hours.
2.3 Management of Temporary Employees

2.3.1 Meet with representatives of the temporary employment agency(s) the plant utilizes for staffing to address the following items:
2.3.1.1 Incident Reporting Requirements – Plenco’s incident reporting requirements apply to temporary employees. Specifically, temporary personnel must notify HR immediately if they are injured, become ill or develop early warning signs or symptoms of a work related condition.
2.3.1.2 Identification of a LHCP
2.3.1.2.1 Regardless of employment status or LCHP selection, Plenco will activate 911 for any significant injury/illness. Site personnel are trained to defer to the EMS professionals for direction of care.
2.3.1.2.2 To ensure temporary employees with a non-life threatening condition are referred to the proper LCHP, it is necessary Plenco know who the temporary agency’s LCHP is. It is acceptable and recommended that the temporary agency consider contracting with the same LHCP as Plenco as they are familiar with Plenco operations and expectations regarding medical case management.
2.3.1.3 Communications
2.3.1.3.1 Confirm the agency will be responsible for communication of all pertinent information on the selected LHCP (e.g., who is it, how do they access care, any procedural requirements, clear identification of employer, etc.) to the temporary staff.
