Can a fire marshal fine you?
Had a walkthrough today with a city fire marshal. He pointed out a bunch small housekeeping things. I’ll correct the issues, but I wanted to see if fire marshals have the authority to issue fines

Unless you have alot of violations they should issue a code violation ticket with a pre-determined date of completion on the said violations, they can in some states issues fines, plus even closed the doors on a company until all the violations are corrected. In all reality you would need to consult with your local and state officials to see what the fire marshalls limitations are for your specific district
I’m guessing it depends on the state, but in California a business could be cited and pay penalties. I’m not sure who would enforce that, although CA Fire Marshals are peace officers.
From CA HEALTH AND SAFETY CODE, DIV 12, PT 2, CH 1:
13112. Every person who violates any provision of this chapter, or any order, rule, or regulation made pursuant to this chapter, is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars ($100) or more than five hundred dollars ($500), or by imprisonment for not more than six months, or by both.
A person is guilty of a separate offense each day during which he or she commits, continues, or permits a violation of any provision of, or any order, rule, or regulation made pursuant to, this chapter.

In Wisconsin they usually point out the non conforming things then set a time line for completion or follow up. Never heard of any fines unless there was a pre existing fire.
