PPE vending machines
Has anyone tried those PPE vending machines? I remember having them at my first job, and they required employees to swipe their badge in order to get PPE. It ended up being riddled with technical complications so often times we couldn’t even get the PPE we wanted. I think it’s a phenomenal concept from an inventory standpoint, but I’m worried about being at the mercy of the equipment functioning correctly.
Anyone have any feedback on the modern machines?

I have used both Grainger and MSC VMI programs, and I don't recall having issues with getting particular products...i'm actually going to be looking into such a system at my current company soon to see what's changed over the years...will keep you posted

Excellent for first aid boxes. Helps in hazard identification, especially with report capabilities.
Trouble spots make themselves apparent. Especially those running through OTC NSAIDS.
Helps focus abatement efforts. Not popular in union shops though, as they may deem them invasive.

We use machines provided, stocked, and serviced by Grainger. They work very well, when employees get the PPE out of the machines.
Have had experience with Fastenal machines. It's all about right selections in the right locations throughout the plant. Reports are great for managing inventory and understanding usage.
