COVID-19 cases from workplace exposure ARE recordable.
Was looking at the OSHA guidelines for COVID-19 and they say that confirmed COVID-19 cases from work-related exposure are considered to be recordable:

Had this discussion this morning. The difficulty lies in the burden of proof that it’s work related. Could easily create a difficult situation between employees and employers as to who is responsible. Thoughts?

We have implemented the 6-15-48 guidance in our investigations to help have a guideline to determine work related exposures/illness. We use this along with whether the person was wearing PPE. In my opinion it is virtually impossible to say for certain if someone was infected at work unless they were completely isolated outside of the workplace. We have also created a one page questionnaire with an imbedded flowchart to determine the need for quarantine and recordability if anyone would like a copy. sonia.blair76@gmail.com.
