I Just Passed My 6-year Milestone as a Consultant.
I officially retired from the corporate world on September 30, 2017. I laid around about 2 weeks and said, "I got to do something! Just waking up wondering what you are going to do today, sucks!"
So I started what I thought I knew best, a HR Consulting Business. I hired people to start my business, and make a website. What I very quickly found out was that there seems to be millions of retired Baby-Boomer HR Managers and most want to be consultants and lots of consulting HR firms (like Yellowbird). I failed miserably!
So I shut myself in my office and rethought my entire business. I remembered my other strength is in OHS, and with a HR and Ops (Mfg) background knew what these people wanted and needed! I made a new business plan, and reformed another LLC, designed a logo, and made my own new website!
I have made a few bucks and had a blast! As you can tell I love to meet people and talk! If you want to pay me to do it, whom am I to turn your money down?
I have recently had to take a few months off for a serious health concern. I am now on the mend and think I am going to be great. But I have lost all my customers. I am approaching my 70th birthday and some of my family is saying, "Dad hang it up!" I will have to start all over again!
Most of me wants to get going again and pick myself up! But there is a bigger part of me than I care to admit that is saying, "Fitz, Enough already!"
Pray for me as I am in a quandary. What do I do?

Tom - Hubby and I are in the same place (and age) and we realise we need to keep active and we both love our work (Hubby a mechanic; Me a Safety Advisor) so we are looking at Consulting on our terms and working the hours we want. Once your loyal customers see you are back in business I am sure some of them will be back by your side.
Good luck with whatever your decision may be.
Jools

That's great!
